THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF PERFUMES
Our Expertise
Franc 1884 perpetuates a rare and unique art in French craftsmanship: that of weaving lavender spindles and balls. This artistic craft, at the crossroads of tradition and creation, is unlike any other skill. Each piece is handcrafted with the meticulous care of a goldsmith, revealing all the nobility of lavender and transforming its fragrance into a timeless work. More than an object, each spindle or ball becomes a poetic, elegant, and unclassifiable signature, testifying to an art that defies fashion and eras.

SCENTED CREATIONS
The Scents
Perfume is a universal language whose cradle is nature. For 4,200 years, natural perfume, particularly lavender, has accompanied civilizations. Used since ancient Egypt for its medicinal and olfactory properties, lavender has survived through the ages: from the gardens of Babylon to Greek and Roman uses, all the way to the Middle Ages, when perfume became a symbol of health in Europe.
In France, since the 11th century, lavender has been recognized as a medicinal, aromatic, and fragrant plant, notably enhanced in the Eau de la Reine de Hongrie at the court of Versailles. Later, Grasse established itself as the world capital of perfume, revealing to the world the exceptional Provençal terroir.
Today, Franc 1884 celebrates this natural treasure in its "Heart of Lavender" case. Like rising smoke, the fragrance evokes a path toward light, a symbol of welcome and communication carried by centuries of history, from Phoenician sailors to the present day.

LUBERON, CRADLE OF PERFUMES
The Terroir
Like great wines, lavender and lavandin require an exceptional terroir. Quality depends on the altitude, soil, and climate specific to each variety. To guarantee the best harvests, we respect nature's rhythm and pick at the ideal time. Altitude is essential: the early morning chill followed by the Mediterranean heat allows lavender to reveal its full potential.
Located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, our fields are pesticide-free sanctuaries. We harvest fine lavender at 1,100 m and Lavandin, a natural hybrid, at 500 m, with care and tradition.
Lavandin grows naturally only in France, the result of a cross between lavender angustifolia and lavender latifolia, linked to the specific altitudes between the Mediterranean and the Alps.

FRENCH CRAFTSMANSHIP
Quality
Sourcing agricultural and textile materials requires extensive expertise and mastery of essential processes. We control every step, from field to user, because every choice impacts quality.
After years of research, our Quality Assurance Manual has 22 control points guaranteeing a perfect finish.
For example, the size of the pieces depends on the stems harvested: lavandins for large pieces, lavenders for smaller ones, which require finer dexterity.

THE HAPPINESS OF RIGHT ACTIONS
Dexterity
The intelligence of the hand executes the gesture, the weaving is more or less difficult to achieve depending on the quality of the ribbon. It is the agility of the mind and the ingenuity in action that will allow us to create, to invent, to find the right solution, and to write the new rules of the art of our profession.
FRANC 1884 combines nature and elegance. For almost 20 years we have been exploring and sometimes achieving surprising things.
We are ready to share our developments with you and, if you wish, to "integrate" you into our research. They are numerous, and sometimes challenge established conformisms. The most diverse fields are as many doors opening onto the future: hospitality, the arts, events, health, etc. With you, we will continue to live an amazing adventure.
